Red Letter Restructures Ownership and Management

Red Letter Communications, the full-service marketing communications agency based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, has completed a significant ownership and management reorganization. Completed August 1, founder Jim Riley and new company president Bruce Robert have repurchased all stock and established a new set of company directors.

“Over the past 37 years, the company has been through several eras,” said Jim Riley, who remains CEO. “Our industry is constantly evolving, and I’m already seeing evidence Bruce and the director group will keep us relevant and vital long into the future.”

In the last 60 days, the agency has won significant assignments from new clients in categories ranging from wearable goods to insurance and tourism. In 2017, Red Letter helped long-time client STIHL Incorporated with its nationwide launch of the STIHL Lightning Battery System™. Currently, the company is working with Alan Wire of Sikeston, MO by creating graphic elements for their new facility designed to attract millennial hires. And, in June 2016, Red Letter was part of the team that won the $1.75B/7,200 jobs National Geospatial Intelligence Agency project for the Northside Regeneration in St. Louis.

“We believe you build brand through sales and results,” said Riley, who credits Red Letter’s staff with the company’s ongoing success. “We’re a lot more like an orchestra than a one-, three- or five-person band. Our company is driven by diverse talents, combined with a common commitment to quality, productivity and going the extra mile for clients.”

“Jim proposed this idea of directors about a year ago, and we began the transition in January. This empowers our key staff members to manage and develop their respective areas of the business,” said Bruce Robert, who assumed the role of company president in July. “We plan to grow especially in data interpretation and digital marketing,” he said, “while we continue to put service first and maintain a culture that celebrates individual talent with mutual respect among the team.”

Red Letter employs 50 full-time marketing communications and advertising professionals, and has offices downtown and on the west side of Cape Girardeau. Areas of expertise include: marketing communication and advertising strategy, creative direction, authorship and graphic design, digital and video production, media, and quality and compliance. “We emphasize the importance and value of integrating marketing campaigns with internal communications,” said Robert, who has led the agency’s STIHL account group through 15+ years of continuous growth. “Real synergy and results happen when people inside organizations clearly understand what’s being promised to current and potential customers,” he said.
